HOLLA! and ACCESS CDC 3 on 3 basketball tournament drew teams from all over the county

HOLLA! and ACCESS CDC partnered to host a 3 on 3 basketball tournament on New Year’s Eve at Anson Middle School in Wadesboro. It was an exciting event with 19 teams playing and an unexpected number of fans in attendance. Leon Gatewood, CEO HOLLA! CDC was very encouraged by the turnout of both players and fans. “The 3 on 3 tournaments was motivating to the extent that it was an exhibition of talent, discipline and the community’s willingness to collaborate for good”.

Teams played on two courts for 12 point win. Rochelle Nunn-Streater, tournament coach, acknowledged the intensity of the competition. “As we came down to the last two teams, it became a sitting on the edge of your seat time. There were lots of skill and talent on the floor but the team of Stan Hailey, Calvin Taylor, Tommy Maye, and Brian Byrd, used their team synergy and came out as the tournament champions. Teamwork always wins in the end “.

This event has been so well received by the community that there has been requests to have another tournament “We would like to make this at least an annual event if not more, so stay tune for details”, says ACCESS CDC Executive Director, Priscilla Nunn.
